Bear Tracks Recommendations & Tips
Area RugsTurn your area rugs around periodically to get even traffic on all sides. We recommend you get them cleaned at least once a year. Area rugs can hold 8-10 lbs. of dirt per square foot. Make sure they you vacuum the rugs regularly to remove dry soil & be careful not to catch the fringes in the vacuum. To vacuum the fringes use your extension hose/wand on your vacuum if it has one. If you get spots or spills you will want to be careful what you use if you have a wool or silk rug. Our clients know that they can trust our Bear Tracks Spot Remover to safely remove problem spots. CarpetWe recommend that you clean all of your carpet at least once a year whether you think it needs it or not. Your carpet is like a filter & soil is like sand paper. The more soil in the carpet, the more the sand paper wears at the fibers. This causes traffic patterns throughout your carpet. You should clean your carpet before it looks dirty for proper maintenance. Vacuum at least 2 times per week & more often if time allows.

UpholsteryWe recommend that you clean all of your upholstery at least once a year or sooner if needed. Upholstery is made to be used...and use it gets! Upholstery is usually neglected when it comes to cleaning. Then, when it is heavily soiled is when you think about it. Upholstery can get worn pretty easily so you want to stay up to date on your maintenance. Upholstery has oils deposited in the headrests/armrests, animal hair & dander, allergens, spills, vomit, saliva & the list could go on & on. So why would you wait to clean your upholstery knowing that. This would be like wearing a cotton shirt for a year before cleaning it.

VacuumingYou should vacuum your carpet at least twice a week & more often if time allows. Use a good vacuum cleaner, if you have allergies look for one that is has Hepa filtration. Never adjust the height of your vacuum all the way down where it cannot breathe. This is not good for the vacuum, nor for the carpet. If you don't have a proper height adjustment you can damage the top of your carpet fibers causing distortion. Never leave your vacuum on while sitting in one place on your carpet. This can damage carpet also. Always maintain your vacuum on a regular basis & check your bags.

Spot RemoversThere are so many choices in the stores today & no one knows what is good to use on their carpet. Unfortunately, so many of them have such a high pH (soap) that they leave a residue that attracts dirt. You think your spot is gone but over time it is cleaning the bottoms of feet & attracting dirt. We leave you with a safe spot remover for your carpet when you are a client of ours because we want you to have a great professional spotter that won't cause problems. Bear Tracks Spot Remover is our clients favorite spot remover & our clients children even know to use the Bear Tracks when they spill something. Never scrub or use any brushes on carpet because it causes friction heat & will distort the fibers, so you have a fuzzy spot on your carpet that is irreversible.
